Hi Zoe,

And that's what I love about the South -early start on gardening. I know exactly what you're talking about because I grew up in Northern Alabama ( Jasper ) and brought many vegetables and fruits from the garden to the table when I was young back on the farm.

I know all about hoeing , too. Starting from age 10 we had to hoe rows and rows of cotton, corn and peanuts ( our cash crops )in that Alabama sunshine ( one hundred in the shade ! )

I will look forward to keeping track of your progress. Good luck.

This is Soft (The Alabama Gardener)...
Zoe and I share a few blogs :) sorry for the confusion!

Jaspar is not too far from where I live; did y'all have all that clay dirt there as well? I am fortunate, my garden dirt is much more brown then red.

I put a few of the babies in the ground today; having an anxiety moment for sure... but I have time enough if I miscalculated.

Thanks for stopping by.
(Zoe usually labels her posts, by the way :))

I am confused, Soft. Sorry.

We sure did have that red clay dirt in Jasper.

I can remember when I was a young'un we'd have the early crops planted by the end of February. I think we're getting global cooling, not warming !

Good luck with your garden. If a cold snap comes don't panic. Just cover the plants.
